Lead the Conditions

A practical system for the human side of project success. You cannot control people. You can lead the conditions in which they succeed.

Turn the Cube

Five faces build the human conditions a project runs on. The sixth is how you know whether they are actually being experienced.

Sense → Interpret → Act. Notice a human signal, work out what it means, and choose a response — before it becomes a delivery problem.

What the Dashboard Doesn't Show

A project can look on track while the conditions for success are quietly eroding. Plans and dashboards show progress against deliverables, milestones and cost. They show far less about the human system the plan depends on.

None of these appear in a status report. All of them are audible earlier — in what people stop saying, stop asking, and stop bringing to you.

iENGAGE gives leaders a way to sense those signals, interpret what they mean, and act while there is still time to change the conditions.

Owning Project Success

PMI's M.O.R.E. philosophy calls on project professionals to manage perceptions, own success, relentlessly reassess and expand perspective — to take responsibility for the value a project creates, not just the deliverables it produces.

It is a fair expectation, and a much larger job than managing a plan. Most of it runs through people.

If you are going to own project success, you also have to lead the conditions around it.

iENGAGE is one answer to that. It sets out practical behaviours for helping people feel understood, energised, adaptable, aligned and safe enough to raise concerns early — and a way to check whether those conditions are landing. It complements established project management, governance and benefits management. It does not replace any of them.
